Cuttack: A large number of BJP Mahila Morcha workers today gheraoed the Crime Branch (CB) headquarters here protesting against the investigating agency’s “inefficiency” for which two accused brothers recently got acquitted in the 2011 sensational case of rape and murder of a Dalit girl in Pipili.
Alleging that the investigating agency had destroyed the evidences against the accused brothers, the protestors led by Morcha State unit president Pravati Parida held Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik responsible for it.
The protestors alleged that Patnaik being in charge of the Home Department is misusing the investigating agencies, the protestors demanded justice to the victim girl.
The 19-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped on November 28, 2011, had succumbed on June 21, 2012 after remaining semi-comatose at SCB medical in Cuttack, triggering State-wide massive public outrage.
Notably, a prime accused and his brother – Prashant Pradhan and Sukant Pradhan, allegedly involved in sensational gang-rape and murder of the girl in Pipili of Puri district in 2011-12, were acquitted by First Additional Sessions Court for want of evidence last week.
