Bhubaneswar: Amidst corona scare, two women members of a SHG in capital city have turned frontline corona warriors by putting up stalls of handmade masks in a view to sell them to contain the spread of deadly virus.
The duo are selling masks made of cotton cloth which is easy to use during summer time as it absorbs sweat easily, helping users to breathe without any problem.
“We are well aware that no particular medicine has been invented to combat the coronavirus. As precautionary measures like wearing of facemasks and maintaining social distance are only weapons to defeat the virus, buying masks made of cotton is need of the hour. I thank the SHG groups who are making and selling such masks without taking much profit,” said a customer, who bought a mask form a counter put up by the two women.
With an aim to promote use of masks among all sections of people, the price of the mask has been kept pocket friendly between Rs 15 to Rs 30.
Talking to the Women Odisha, the women said, “Our shops are open for public from morning 7.30 am to 12.30 pm and then from evening 5.00 to 6.30 pm. Understanding the need of the hour, all our SHG members have decided to prepare and sell masks at affordable costs to help people remain safe from the deadly virus.”
They said they are also making a good sale every day. A single-day sale touched Rs 19,000-mark on Wednesday, they said.
