Bhubaneswar: Even as Covid-19 pandemic is prevalent, unmarried girls are celebrating Kumar Purnima across Odisha today.

As per the ritual, Kunari girls wearing new dresses conducted Surya Puja in the morning and would conduct Chandra Puja in the evening.

It  is believed that girls do Kumar Utsav to get grooms of good characters.

As Kumar Purnima is celebrated individually in families, the festivity has remained intact despite coronavirus threat.

The festival marks the end of Ashwina month and beginning of the holy month of Kartik.

On this day, Goddess Gaja Lakshmi is worshipped across the State. Gajalaxmi Puja is conducted in a big way in Kendrapada and Dhenkanal.
